Vintage Kite Quilt Block - Foundation Paper Piecing
The Vintage Kite quilt block is from a past era. It is sewn with foundation paper using light and dark fabrics.
We will be making sample blocks to learn the technique. We will not be making a project in this class.
Supplies:
6" Vintage Kite quilt block foundation paper from It's Sew Emma
Light and dark fabric (it can be scrap fabric), cut in the sizes listed below --
Please bring enough fabric for 3 blocks.
For each block, you will need:
8 -- 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles from light fabric or fabrics
4 -- 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles from dark fabric or fabrics
Sewing machine and basic sewing notions, i.e., scissors, machine needles, seam ripper, etc.
Thread to blend with your fabrics
#1 or straight stitching foot
Rotary cutter
Small cutting mat
Add-A-Quarter ruler (if you have one); a 12" straight quilting ruler will also work
Glue pen or glue stick
Sewing pins
Seam roller
