Doodles Quilting Class
Doodles Quilt Class
Instructor: Barbara Chesnut
Back in the day, when we were limited by the length of the cord on the phone, we used to sit and doodle while we talked on the phone. We would scribble shapes on paper then shade in, draw in, or color in the spaces. We would do the same on notebooks in school to pass the time away. So what is keeping us from trying out doodling with fabric?! Create your own doodle or poke around “doodle” online for ideas.
The hardest part was prepping the project. Assembling and stitching was a breeze.
Skills learned:
Creating a design
What to bring to class:
Fusible stabilizer/interfacing
Clear/invisible thread
Applique
Quilt options.
Binding stitch options
We are looking for a finished size of about 28” square.
Bring to class:
A doodle with about 10 spaces. Use newspaper, paper bags, wrapping paper or whatever paper you have on hand to fit into an approximate final size of 28” square. You may trace over your preferred design a couple of times reach a final design. Your final spaces should fit exactly together when cut out.
Enough fabric for each space in your doodle. Choose your favorite colors. Visit your scraps or The Benartex Fat Quarters at the Bernina store. Do not sweat this part of the process. Project does come together.
